Chris McCormack’s answer to the crucial question so many of you have: Can it be done?
Chris won the IRONMAN Germany last Sunday in a spectacular neck-to-neck finish with Eneko Llanos. Now the Challenge race in Roth lies ahead of him. Only 3 days are left untill he has to expose his body and mind to an Ironman distance again. In this interview he gives us his perspective on this much discussed instance.
Der Ausklang: Trainingday mit Chris McCormack
Im Januar hatten wir einen Trainingday mit Chris verlost. Gestern traf sich eine handverlesene Gruppe am Kizingsee bei Langenselbold. Obwohl das Wetter durchwachsen war, verbrachten wir alle einen entspannten Tag am See. Ab und zu überraschte uns ein Schauer, der die Laune jedoch nicht zu trüben vermochte. Chris ist ein hervorrangender Unterhalter und Geschichtenerzähler. Da kommt selbst bei strömendem Regen keine Langeweile auf.
Leider konnte Nicole Leder nicht mit dabei sein, da sie sich am selben morgen eine Ischialgie zugezogen hatte, die mit Kortison behandelt werden musste. Sogar Hannes von Hannes-Hawaii-Tours musste bekennen, dass auch für ihn, dem Triathlon-Fossil, noch heisse Tipps dabei waren, dann kann man vielleicht ermessen, wie viel man von einem Tag mit Chris profitieren kann.
IRONMAN Germany: big success but fighting the amounts of footage
This is exactly the dilemma you meet when one is working multimedia-based. We got a lot of great materials, but we have been running out of time. Today is our training day with Chris, but after that we shall be on track again. Only in brief, biestmilch experienced its most successful event ever. Chris won the race in a spectacular finish ahead of Eneko Llanos, and again under 8 hours (7:59:55), Nicole Leder came in second proving once and again her exceptionel running qualities. Meike Krebs got in fourth.
This was the result of a hard day. Many athletes were struggling. The fairly cool weather was tempting to go fast right from the beginning, everybody knows that this is not healthy and may pay back in the end, but one is not always acting rationally. So, many an athlete was running out of energy.
